| _____________________________________________________________________________ bahdeebahdu Studio in association with the Coalition Ingénu Self-taught Artists’ Collective and the Outsider Folk Art Gallery in Reading, PA proudly present… ![]() Jim Bloom/Justin Duerr: The Ironic and the Sublime Contrasting the bold outsider compositions of Jim Bloom with the epic visionary drawings of Justin Duerr While Jim Bloom’s large, mixed-media creations are rife with raw energy and dark humor, depicting scenes of the ironic, dysfunctional, contradictory and quirky behavior that he observes among the people of our world, Justin Duerr seems to function in an alternate reality of dreams and visions, outlining a continuous story in tiny text and obsessive detail from one drawing to the next. This exhibit is about the differences between two similarly motivated artists –- the difference between “Outsider” art and “Visionary” art (if you don’t mind labels) –- and the differences in personality and perception that are manifested in these extremely genuine, original and personal expressions of art. Receptions: Second Thursday, June 10th from 6-9 pm Second Thursday, July 8th from 6-9 pm Exhibit runs through Saturday, July 31, 2010 Gallery Hours: Tues. – Fri. 11 am – 6 pm Sat. 11 am – 4pm bahdeebahdu 1522 N.
